Community
Groups
"So continuing daily with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house
to house - the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved"
(Acts 2:46-47).
Get
ready! Community Church is about to explode! We have launched a new ministry
called Community,
bringing a personal touch of Community Church into homes all around the Orange
area. Brother David has long said he felt like the Lord will send as many
people to Community Church as we are able to minister too. This ministry is
designed to broaden our efforts and accomplish this great task.
What is a Community group and what will it look like?
These small groups of 10 to 12 people will be for new believers and mature
Christians alike. Lead by specially trained members of the Community
congregation, they will offer the opportunity to come together for mutual
encouragement through prayer, the study of God's Word and the development of
close personal relationships. There are several reasons why the Lord is leading
us in this direction. The main reason is to extend the love and compassion so
many have found at Community Church into dozens of homes all around Orange,
connecting people and changing lives.
What is the Biblical basis for Community groups?
Jesus ministered to the masses, but He chose to develop the faith of His closest
disciples in the context of a small group. The book of Acts and the Epistles of
Paul often make reference to the early believers meeting in homes.
God's
Word exhorts us to "love one another", to "pray for one another" and to "build
up one another." Small groups offer us a better opportunity to fulfill this
calling as we form close relationships with each other, pray for one another's
needs and ultimately help each other to become mature disciples of Jesus Christ.
Leaders Needed!
We are recruiting and training leaders to conduct meetings in their homes. Qualified men
and women will have a heart to serve and a willingness to commit. If you are
interested in serving as a Community leader, we want to hear from you.
What is expected of a Community Leader?
Community leaders will be responsible for overseeing the group meetings, guiding
the discussions, delegating responsibilities within the group and, most
importantly, helping to develop new leaders from the group.
What are the qualifications of a Community Leader?
At Community Church we see every Christian as a potential leader. We fully
expect that new leaders will be raised up over the next few years.
